Using Selective Color in Photoshop Elements 3 and earlier

Selective Color thumbnailAlthough Photoshop Elements doesn't support CMYK mode, this tool relies on CMYK logic of color presentation.

  1. In the Effects palette, double-click the "Selective Color" thumbnail. In the "New Layer" dialog, click "OK".
  2. A dialog box will appear allowing you to remix colors for various color ranges.

  3. Choose the proper range from "Colors" menu. For example, to remove a yellow cast, you select "Yellows".
  4. Move the sliders to adjust the amount of cyan, magenta, yellow, and/or black process ink.

Please note, though, that when unlocked in Photoshop Elements, this tool has 2 important restrictions:

  1. The command is only available as an adjustment layer. (To adjust only the current layer, check "Group With Previous Layer" in the "New Layer" dialog.)
  2. You can't re-edit the settings of the created adjustment layer.
