Since PSE allows us to apply effects only to Grayscale and 8-bit RGB images we can open no E+ dialog while editing, for example, a 16-bit image.
The "Switcher" script can save this problem.
- Open any ordinary (8-bit RGB) image or create a new one.
- In the "Scripts" dialog, go to the "Files" category and launch the "Switcher" script.
- The left panel of the "Switcher" dialog that opens, contains the list of the opened documents. Click on the image you want to edit.
- In the "Scripts" list (the right panel), double-click the name of the E+ dialog you want to open.
In the example shown on the screenshot, the author creates a new document "Untitled-1", then opens the "Switcher" dialog, activates "CRW_9275.CRW" document (a 16-bit image) and calls for it the "Color and Tone" dialog.
Keep in mind, though, that this workaround can't overcome the PSE fundamental limitations. For instance, most commands from the "Layers" dialog are not applicable to a 16-bit image.
