Once your path is de-activated, you can neither use nor even see it. Since Photoshop Elements hasn't a Paths palette, you need special actions to activate available paths.
The "Select Work Path" command selects the inactive Work Path - in other words, "temporary" (not saved) path. "Work Path" may appear in your document, e.g., after using the Path from Selection action.
Also, you can select 2 conventionally named paths.
The "Select Path 1" command loads the path saved under the name "Path 1" (if available). It may appear in your document, e.g., after using the Path from Shape action.
At last, the "Select Path 2" action activates the path named "Path 2". Please use this name for saving your custom paths.
Unconventionally saved paths are not selectable.
To de-activate the current path, you use the Deselect Path action.
NB Selecting two or more paths simultaneously is not possible.
